Hawkswood Royals finish 2nd in the league!

The Hawkswood Royals (Kingswood + Hawkesbury Girls U11's Team) have finished 2nd in the league in their inaugural year!

Congratulations to the Girls, we're so impressed with all your hard work and dedication. We've finished above huge long established Bristol clubs Golden Hill and Frenchay.

Our first league game saw a convincing win away at Golden Hill by 92 runs. Charlotte Wallace won the toss and chose to field first. We restricted Golden Hill to 75 from their 16 overs. Charlotte leading the way taking 2-6, Georgina Stacey taking 2-10 and Evie Guy 2-14. Elodie Seal set the tone with our batting reply scoring 20, we finished on a huge 167.

Our second game was another victory, this time against the North Bristol Hub. Fielding first again we restricted the Hub to 83. A great team bowling performance saw Bella Crocker take her first ever wicket, Elodie bowl 2 maidens in her 2 overs, including a wicket maiden, Lila Haynes and Ellie Astwood both bowling a tight 2 overs for 8 runs and Charlotte and Evie picking up a wicket a piece. Our batting reply of 125 was led once again by Elodie with 14 supported by Ada Reynolds with an accomplished 7.

The third league game of the season saw us taste defeat for the first time but also contained possibly the highlight of the season! Our opponents Frenchay scored 123. Lila took her first wicket when Bella took a superb catch, Lila recording great figures of 1-10 including 1 maiden. Evie etched herself in Royals history with a HAT TRICK! All bowled, ending up with great figures of 3-14. Ellie and and Ada bowled 2 tight overs a piece only going for 11 and 10 respectively. Our batting reply was 77 with Cerys Jones (12) and Charlotte (17) putting in a fantastic last pair performance and some very impressive running between the wickets.

Our final league game was a 'Title Decider' against Old Bristolians. Unfortunately we came up short against a very good Old B's team. Old B's batted first scoring 161. Lila with tight figures again of just 9 runs from her 2 overs and Ada, Cerys and Elodie picking up a wicket a piece. Our batting reply of 101 was a great return against an awesome Old B's attack. A great team performance saw everyone contribute with Cerys (10), Elodie (8), Charlotte (7), Ellie (7), Ada (6) and Lila (5) all chipping in.

A fantastic first season saw 3 of our batters feature in the leagues top 10 run scorers - Elodie (45), Charlotte (36) and Cerys (30). It also saw Evie finish second in the leagues bowling top 10, taking 6 wickets in total.

Many thanks to all the girls and parents from Jon, Karen, Dai and I.

We're so proud of everything the Girls have achieved this year and can't wait to keep progressing and building next year. Go Royals!
