2nd v 3rd faced each other in a thrilling match on Saturday as HCC lost their unbeaten home record v Great Rissington.

Asked to bat, Hawkesbury got off to a poor start losing Westwood and Gardener early. Many of the HCC batsman got starts with Bailey - Blackwell - Collins all reaching 20 but the wickets fell at regular intervals and despite some lower order hitting from Bell - Colburn and a 30 from Huxford HCC ended on 217-8 off their 45 overs.

With the wicket offering a little more help than usual HCC were confident as they took the field that they could keep their unbeaten home record intact. However, a solid opening partnership from the visitors, along with a some missed catches, meant Great Rissington were always ahead of the game. Some tight bowling from Huxford, and the introduction on Joss Beeley brought the breakthroughs HCC were looking for, but the visitors middle order kept up with the required rate, and finished the game off 6 wickets down and with 4 overs to spare.

HCC still remain 2nd in the table and travel to Cranham next week looking to get back to winning ways.
