'My name is Olivia and I am an ex-county cricketer, currently living and playing
cricket in Perth WA.
This summer, from June to the end of August, I will be taking on the huge
challenge of walking the length of the UK in support of children’s charity Chance
to Shine, who inspire young people through cricket. Through this challenge, I am
hoping to raise awareness around mental heath and the power of sports
particularly cricket - and to raise vital funds for Chance to Shine.
On my way, I am planning to visit over 70 cricket clubs, staying one night at each
location.
Sleeping inside a cricket club each night will allow me to be safe, stay dry, charge my devices, and hopefully have
a shower or at least wash. It will also mean that I don’t have to carry a tent - although I will be bringing a
lightweight sleeping bag and mattress. After 8+ hours of walking per day, your club would make a wonderful
resting point!
I will also be connecting all the clubs together in this incredible journey. As an artist (see ‘Artworks by Liv’), I’d like
to leave a small illustration of a smiley face cricket ball on the wall of each cricket club to create a visual trail of the
walk and a reminder of the journey. The walk will also be promoted and publicised throughout the summer, so
your club will be a part of an amazing story that reaches a wide audience.'
Olivia will be staying with us on Monday 23rd June and we hope to give her a warm HCC welcome.
